Veronica Kelewood
KINLICHEE — Funeral services for Veronica Jane Kelewood, 50, will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 19, at Seventh Day Adventist Church, Kinlichee. The Rev. Sammy Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Kinlichee Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m., April 19, prior to service.
Kelewood died April 7, 2011, in Long Beach, Calif. She was born Feb. 11, 1961, in Los Angeles, Calif., into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Salt People Clan.
Kelewood enjoyed making crafts including making Kachina dolls. She went to Kinlichee Boarding School.
Survivors include her sons, Kenny Begaye, Kendall Begaye, both of Shiprock, Ronnie Toledo, Loren Toledo, Leon Toledo, all of Kayenta; daughter, Wilma Toledo of Phoenix; brothers, Terry Kelewood of Rough Rock, Perry Kelewood of Whiteriver, Larson Johnson of Kinlichee; sisters, Vera Atcitty of Shiprock, Sharon Tully of Kinlichee.
Kelewood was preceded in death by her parents, Mary K. Keyonnie, Harry Kelewood Jr.; brothers, Larry Kelewood, Elvis Kelewood; sister, Mevelyn Watchman.
Pallbearers will be Brian Watchman, Larson Johnson, Jeffery Baker, Terry Kelewood, Emerson Tully, Garrett Kelewood.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Sharon Tully’s residence, Kinlichee, following services.
Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Eurell Malone
GALLUP — Funeral services for Eurell Walter Malone, 97, will be 10 a.m., April 19, at Rollie Mortuary. Jay McCollum will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallup.
Malone died April 13, 2011, in Gallup. He was born Nov. 29, 1913, in Tyler, Texas.
Malone graduated from Gallup High School in 1931. He was a salesman for Bake Rite Bakery and Minnesota Woolen Co. He was Past Master of Lebanon Lodge #22 and a member of the Scottish Rite of Santa Fe and a 33° Mason. Malone was a member of the First Baptist Church, Gallup. He loved to fish, play baseball and was a member of the N.M. State Champion American Legion Team in 1932.
Survivors include his sons, Eurell Thomas Malone of Gallup, George Allen Malone of Indianapolis, Ind.; daughter, Kathleen A. Heuerman of Winter Park, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Malone was preceded in death by his parents, Walter T. and Minne A. Malone; brothers, Irad Malone, DeWitt Malone, Odell Malone; wife, Julia Mae; son, Gary S. Malone.
Pallbearers will be George A. Malone, Bill Malone, Charles Malone, Hank Heuerman, Mike D. Heuerman, Stephen Mahnke.
Bertha Scott
OLD COALMINE ROAD — Services for Bertha Scott, 88, will be 10 a.m., April 19, at Good Shepherd Mission, Fort Defiance. Burial will be in Fort Defiance Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m., April 19, prior to service.
Scott died April 13, 2011, in Bloomfield. She was born July 1, 1922, in Fort Defiance, into the Near the Water People Clan for the Red Running Into the Water People Clan.
Scott was a homemaker, rug weaver, rancher and livestock owner. She enjoyed being with family and loved all her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her son, Jonah Scott; daughter, Marie Scott; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Scott was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Kee Scott; son, Larry K. Scott; mother, Lydia Louise Gordy.
Pallbearers will be family.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Fort Defiance Chapter House, following services.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
